Being Right vs Being Safe
Based on the video, the speaker highlights that having the right of way or the law on your side does not overcome the laws of physics, emphasizing safety over legal right-of-way. The video discusses various factors that can create confusion for bicycle riders—such as bad weather, poor lighting, mechanical issues, navigational concerns, or road construction—and advises riders to pull over, stop, and resolve the situation before safely proceeding. Instructions are provided on what steps to take if an incident or injury occurs, including filing a police report, documenting everything, taking photos, and contacting an attorney. The speaker introduces Jeffrey Glassman Injury Lawyers, highlighting that their team understands cyclists because they ride themselves and are on the side of the injured rider.

Richard Fries:
One of my favorite epitaps on a tombstone is, "But I had the right of way." Look, having the right of way, or the rule of law doesn't necessarily mean that you outweigh the laws of physics.
Lots of things can create confusion for a bike rider. If you're having challenges with the weather, maybe it's your lighting, maybe it's a mechanical situation, navigational concerns, construction, any number of things that can confuse you, pull over, stop, get things sorted out, and then proceed when it's safe. But if you do have an incident or suffer an injury, make sure you file a report with the police.
Document everything, take pictures, and contact an attorney. At Jeffrey Glassman Injury Lawyers, we ride. We get it.
