Peter Cheung

I'm Peter Cheung, a video producer and bicycle advocate. My fascination with video production began at an early age. I grew up in Aruba, a small Dutch island in the Caribbean. My native language was Papiamento, and the way I actually learned English and Spanish was by watching television shows, movies, and commercials.

I came to Boston to attend Boston University. After graduating, I owned a recording studio called Downtown Recorders, where the Pixies recorded the very first album.

Back then, my love for Two Wheels was all about motorcycles. But after getting a few too many speeding tickets and unfortunately getting my motorcycle stolen, I pivoted.

I traded engine power for pedal power and started riding bicycles. Little did I know that that shift was going to completely redefine my life.

My real involvement with the Boston bike community started back in 2013, when I helped organize and lead the Boston Bike Party ride. For anyone who has an experienced it, Bike party's a year round, high energy monthly social ride. We move at a slow pace all over Boston, complete with custom music trailers, fun themes and massive dance party stops all along the route. It showed me the incredible joy and deep connection of the cycle community.

But back in 2015, that was hit by a heartbreaking reality. In 2015, I founded the Boston Ghost Bikes Project after Marcia Deal, a brilliant Cambridge singer, writer and activist, was killed by a truck while riding her bike.

Some cycling friends and I came together to build a ghost bike for her. If you aren't familiar with them, a ghost bike is a bicycle roadside memorial placed at the location where the cyclists have been severely injured or killed. We paint the frame entirely white, and family and friends often leave signs, flowers, and personal momentums on it.

The purpose of a ghost bike is deeply rooted in both memorial and advocacy. It honors the rider we lost while serving as a stark, visible reminder to drivers that they need to share the road with all vulnerable road users.

These white frames draw direct attention to dangerous road conditions, and frequently become the exact focal points for community campaigns seeking lower speed limits, better advocacy changes and safer bike lanes.

Since then, I've personally built over 25 ghost bikes across metro Boston.

Over the years, I've been proud to lead group rides for premier organizations like Mass Bike, Livable Streets, Boston Cyclists Union, Bikes Not Bombs, and the Necklace Conservancy. I also joined the board of directors at the Boston Cyclists Union to help push for systemic change.

As both an advocate and a filmmaker, I've seen firsthand how powerful it is when our community comes together to protect one another. But I also realize that we take this mission even further by bringing real legal backing and professional resources directly into our advocacy work.

That is exactly why I'm so incredibly excited to join the team at Jeffrey Glassman Injury Lawyers as the executive videographer and cycling ambassador. Jeffrey isn't just an attorney. He is a dedicated cyclist who truly lives and breathes this safety mission. By bringing my 30 years of production experience to the firm, we are creating a powerful visual storytelling platform focused on education and awareness.

I will be directing and producing an ongoing video documentary series centered completely on road safety.

We will be breaking down the mechanics of the most common types of bike accidents, sharing the powerful real life recovery stories of local riders, and highlighting our community advocacy work. We are turning creative media into a tool for real education, safety awareness and community connections.

Look, we all know how vulnerable we are out there and how quickly everything can change on a ride. If you ever get doored, run off the road, or hurt in an intersection, please don't brush it off and try to grind it through the pain alone. We ride these exact same roads with you. We know what you're up against and we know your rights inside out.
